Sweden extends the furthest south of the three countries of the
Scandinavian Peninsula. Norway borders Sweden to the West,
and Finland to the North. The Gulf of Bothnia and the Baltic Sea
are to the East. The Kattegat (literally the 'Cat's Hole', as it
required much 'squirming', or careful maneuvering for a sailing ship to
get through) lies to the southwest between Sweden and Denmark.
Sweden has not participated in a war for almost two centuries.
