Slovenia joined the Croats and the Serbs in 1928 to form a multi-nation state, which became Yugoslavia. Slovenia broke away from Yugoslavia after a 10-day war in 1991. Slovenia joined the EU and NATO in 2004. Slovenia goes from the Adriatic Sea to the Alps in central Europe.
