     Bulgaria lies north of Greece and the European part of Turkey.  Macedonia and Serbia are to the west and Romania to the north.  The eastern border of Bulgaria is the coastline of the Black Sea.
     Bulgaria was on the losing side in both World War I and II.  After World War II Bulgaria was dominated by the Soviet Union until its breakup in 1991.
