Serbia, once part of the former Yugoslavia,
is a landlocked country north of the eastern Mediterrenean. It is
bordered by Hungary and Romania to the north, Bulgaria to the east,
Macedonia, Kosovo and Montenegro to the south and Bosnia and Croatia to
the west. Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Macedonia, along
with Slovenia, were all also once part of the former Yugoslavia.
Kosovo, after a decade of violence and military action became
independent from Serbia in 2008.
