Montenegro is bordered by Serbia to the north, Kosovo and Albania to the east, Bosnia to the west and the Adriatic Sea to the south.  Like all of its neighbors and Macedonia and Slovenia, Montenegro was once a part of Yugoslavia.  After the breakup of Yugoslavia Montenegro was a part of a federation with Serbia.  This was dissolved in 2006 with Montenegro becoming an independent country.
